One of the world’s most visited cities, London has something for everyone: from history and culture to fine food and good times. Immersed in history, London’s rich seams of eye-opening antiquity are everywhere. The city’s buildings are striking milestones in a unique and beguiling biography, and a great many of them – the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben – are instantly recognisable landmarks. There’s more than enough innovation (the Shard, the Tate Modern extension, the planned Garden Bridge) to put a crackle in the air, but it never drowns out London’s seasoned, centuries-old narrative. Architectural grandeur rises up all around you in the West End, ancient remains dot the City and charming pubs punctuate the historic quarters, leafy suburbs and river banks. Take your pick.
EDINBURGH
Edinburgh is a city that begs to be discovered, filled with quirky, come-hither nooks that tempt you to explore just that little bit further. Edinburgh is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, draped across a series of rocky hills overlooking the sea. It’s a town intimately entwined with its landscape, with buildings and monuments perched atop crags and overshadowed by cliffs. From the Old Town’s picturesque jumble of medieval tenements piled high along the Royal Mile, its turreted skyline strung between the black, bull-nosed Castle Rock and the russet palisade of Salisbury Crags, to the New Town’s neat grid of neoclassical respectability, the city offers a constantly changing perspective.
GLASGOW
Disarmingly blending sophistication and earthiness, Scotland’s biggest city has evolved over the last couple of decades to become one of Britain’s most intriguing metropolises. The soberly handsome Victorian buildings, legacies of wealth generated from manufacturing and trade, suggest a staid sort of place. Very wrong. They are packed with stylish bars, top-notch restaurants and one of Britain’s best live-music scenes. The place’s sheer vitality is gloriously infectious: the combination of edgy urbanity and the residents’ legendary friendliness is captivating.
Upon arrival in London, our driver will meet you in the arrivals hall and transfer to your central city hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to spend at your leisure.
Overnight in London
After breakfast, begin your discovery of London with a city tour conducted on the original London Double Decker bus the ORIGINAL LONDON SIGHTSEEING TOUR. The Original London Tour offers three sightseeing routes that cover all the main sights in Central London augmented by a feeder service that shuttles out to the British Museum and Bloomsbury not on the main routes. As well as the bus tours, free walks and river cruises on the River Thames are also included in the ticket. There is a kids club who get their own commentary and activity book. Tickets are valid for 24hrs. The major sights include Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London and Piccadilly Circus. During your hop and hop off tour you can also visit London’s most famous attractions, such as Madame Tussauds, where you can have your photos taken with the celebrities or the Tower of London, where you can see the Crown Jewels. Why not experience breathtaking views of the city on one of London’s most popular attractions “The London Eye.” In the evening, take yourself up to Leicester Square in the heart of London, where there’s plenty to see and do – including cinemas, restaurants, clubs and everything else that makes London such a vibrant city.
